MAST 2.0 is a 4-day field-based course that builds upon the terrain management taught in MAST 1plus. This course will help you develop more advanced winter backcountry travel skills and mitigate your risk by honing your terrain evaluation and travel skills.

What you will learn:

  • Progressive planning and travel techniques required to travel safely through various types of terrain using the daily process.
  • Getting the most from your avalanche forecast.
  • Key techniques for applying the Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale to develop your own terrain ratings.
  • How to proficiently carry out a companion rescue.
  • Decision-making skills to manage avalanche risk.
  • A deeper theoretical understanding of avalanche terrain and snowpack.

November 24-27, 2025 (course only): $995 + tax

November 23-27, 2025 (all-inclusive): $2,247 + tax

Please arrive at CKMP between the hours of 3 pm and 6pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30pm.

Morning Meeting – 8am to 9am
In The Field Training – 9am to 5:30 pm

Day 2:
Morning Meeting – 8am to 9am
In The Field Training – 9am to 5:30 pm

Day 3:
Morning Meeting – 8am to 9am
In The Field Training – 9am to 5:30 pm
Evening Indoor Theory – 7pm to 9pm

Day 4:
Morning Meeting – 8am to 9am
In The Field Training – 9am to 5:30 pm

ALL-INCLUSIVE COURSE INCLUDES
4-nights accommodations at CKMP, and all meals (3/day) which includes dinner on your arrival day and breakfast and lunch on your departure day.

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BRING YOUR OWN SLED, Riding GEAR, AND AVALANCHE SAFETY GEAR
