Motorized Avalanche Safety Training

This 2.5-day course provides an entry-level framework to help you make wise decisions when travelling by snowmobile in backcountry winter terrain. Whether you’re new to the sport of snowmobiling or you’re looking to reinforce or upgrade your understanding of potential hazards in avalanche terrain, this course is for you. This program is based on a curriculum established by Avalanche Canada and is a blend of indoor theory and in-field practice training.

What you will learn:

  • Avalanche formation and release.
  • How to identify avalanche terrain.
  • The basics of trip planning.
  • How to use the avalanche forecast to mitigate your avalanche risk.
  • Using appropriate travel techniques in avalanche terrain.
  • Intro to companion rescue.

Friday:
Meet & Greet 7pm – 9pm

Saturday:
Indoor Theory – 8am to 10:30am
In The Field Training – 10:30am to 5:30 pm

Sunday:
Indoor Theory – 8am to 10:30am
In The Field Training – 10:30am to 5:30 pm

ALL-INCLUSIVE COURSE INCLUDES
2-nights accommodations at CKMP, and all meals, 3/day which includes dinner on Friday, your arrival day and breakfast and lunch on Sunday your departure day.

NOTE:
You are required to bring your own sled, riding gear, and avalanche safety gear. 
*Sleds are available to rent for $350/day
